Webinar Description
Dental implants are a well-accepted and successful procedure for replacing missing teeth in adults. However, congenitally missing permanent teeth, trauma, and pathology can leave children in need for dental implant placement. Other congenital deformities such as cleft lip/palate, ectodermal dysplasia, and oligodontia often leave the growing patient without a permanent solution until they reach adulthood. Although studies show successful placement and restoration of implants in the growing patient, this is not a commonly performed procedure in clinical practice. Complications such as infraocclusion, replacement of crowns during growth, marginal bone loss, and restriction of alveolar bone formation are concerns when considering implants in the growing patient. This webinar will discuss the timing of dental implants, risks and benefits of placing implants in the growing patient, and how even skeletally mature patients may develop submerged implants and other complications over time. 1 CE Credit Hour | Free *You will receive a Verification of Course Attendance via email after you complete and pass the quiz.
